The Max Matings, Min Matings and Must Use values seen in the video are pulled from the CSV data file you provide. Experimenting with different values (i.e. changing these values in MateSel) will not update your CSV datafile. We provide this update facility in MateSel so you can quickly try different inputs to see the effect they have on your ability to chase your optimal genetic gain and diversity.
Tip
It is not recommended that you set Max Matings (MaxUse) values low with the intention of conserving genetic diversity. Let
Optimal Contributions Selection (OCS) manage that through your chosen
Balance Strategy . Better to set Max Matings according to reasonable biological and/or logistical limits i.e. as high as possible!
This field is the number of matings to be made. It is typically the number of breeding females but for IVF matings it is the number of oocytes fertilized. Under Grouping, the number of matings is calculated from grouping information provided.
